HALOW Birmingham run the visitors' centre at Birmingham prison, Winson Green. Fiona once worked at the prison teaching English to inmates. Prison officers observing her lessons persuaded her to become a probation officer, and after taking another degree and training, Fiona worked as a probation officer in Birmingham for 18 years, a job she still held when she passed away in 2021.
